Who We Are (About)
FOP Friends was established on the 1st March 2012 to raise money and awareness for the rare genetic condition Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP).
Full charitable status in England and Wales status was subsequently applied for and granted on the 15th June 2012 (Charity #1147704). FOP Friends was also recognised as a charity for tax purposes by UK HMRC on the 17th August 2012.
It was founded by Oliver’s father, Chris, and his aunties Alison and Rachel. It is registered with the Charity Commission Number 1147704. The main aim of the Charity is to raise much needed funds to support research into FOP internationally. The charity also aims to raise public awareness and understanding of FOP and to promote education and research into the study and cure of FOP. Money received by "FOP Friends" supports research into FOP and helps families impacted by FOP and help to raise awareness.
